Each summer our church hosts a week-long Vacation Bible School for people of all ages. Lively Bible lessons, crafts, music, recreation, meals, and daily celebrations make it a great week at church! In 2005, we packedour bags and cruised "Route 254" with Ramblin' Road Trip: Which Way Do I Go? VBS. Participants discovered that the choices they make daily affect their journey. By choosing God as their guide they are sure to arrive at the ultimate destination - a relationship with Jesus!

The prayer chain is activated at any time day or night when a situation arises in which the requestor wishes immediate prayer support. The telephone is used to communicate as quickly as possible to those on the prayer chain. The prayer request may be for a crisis (illness, death, etc.) or it may be for a burden longstanding. How Can I Start the Prayer Chain? E-mail us at the Church Office. How Can I Become a Link in the Prayer Chain? E-mail us at the Church Office. "Is any among you afflicted? let him pray. Is any merry? let him sing psalms. Is any sick among you? let him call for the elders of the church; and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord: And the prayer of faith shall save the sick, and the Lord shall raise him up; and if he have committed sins, they shall be forgiven him. Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much." James 5:13-16 (KJV)

God truly blessed our Vacation Bible School in 2005! We had an enrollment of 145 and average attendance was 133. There were also five decisions for Christ! Our church invites you to be a part of our Vacation Bible School in 2006! This summer we will be trekking north to LifeWay's VBS 2006, Arctic Edge, where daily excursions from Big Bear Lodge will have kids hiking across the tundra, exploring the sea scape by kayak, and skimming the backcountry in a float plane. Based on Joshua 1:9, Arctic Edge helps kids find the courage required to follow Jesus in every day challenges as they learn that God is always with them.

MVBC Awana Club - Awana

Awana is an international, Bible-centered children's ministry with the goal of reaching children and their families with the gospel of Christ and training them to serve Him. Awana is an acronym from 2 Timothy 2:15, "Approved Workmen Are Not Ashamed." Awana presents an opportunity for children to establish a relationship with God and, through Scripture memory, grow spiritually, build self-esteem and develop good relationships with others.

Parents assist their children in this growth by encouraging them to learn the verses in their Awana handbook and by sharing joy in the awards they earn.

In order to minister more effectively to each child on their own level, the Awana program at MVBC is divided into different age level clubs:

Lambs - boys and girls from newborn to age 2.
Cubbies - boys and girls ages three and four.
Sparks - boys and girls in kindergarten through second grade.
Truth and Training (T&T) - boys and girls in third through sixth grades.
Junior Varsity - teenagers in seventh and eighth grades.

The MVBC Awana Club meets on Wednesday nights from 6:30 to 8:15 pm. There is also a meal provided at 6:00 pm. Every Wednesday night, the children recite verses they have memorized, listen to a message from God's Word, and play games. Also, check the event calendar to see what the upcoming theme nights are for each Wednesday!

For more information about Mountain View's Awana program, please e-mail us.

Tape Ministry at MVBC - Tape Ministry

Have you found a sermon particularly meaningful and uplifting? Would you like to listen to it again at your convenience so you can meditate on its meaning for you? Did you miss a Sunday? Out of town? Or, does someone you know need to hear this message? A cassette and video master is recorded of each service. The tape ministry at MVBC duplicates these tapes and makes them available to anyone who requests them.

It is the mission of the Mountain View Baptist Church Tape Ministry to provide an audio record of the inspirational messages of God's divine wisdom and the teachings of His son, Jesus Christ, as they occur each and every Sunday. This ministry provides comfort and encouragement to the sick and shut-in or additional biblical study after Sunday worship.

For more information about our Tape Ministry, please e-mail us.

We, at Mountain View, believe in using drama to reach out to people in a fresh and creative way. We also believe that drama can play a valuable role in the lives of people that come to our services. The people who are involved in the drama team feel they have been gifted in this area and called by God to use their gifts to serve the congregation through drama.

Dramas are used to introduce a spiritual topic, stress a point of the sermon, or even to promote a ministry or program within the church.

The Drama Team has also gone outside of the church to share with the local community. By training other churches to perform dramas, the MVBC Drama Team is planting seeds for other ministries. The Drama Team has also shared the gospel by performing at local apartment complexes and outside venues.

For more information about the Drama Team, please e-mail us.

Everyone age 50 and up are invited to be a part of the Sunlighters. There are several ways to get involved with the Sunlighters at MVBC:

Monthly Meetings
The Sunlighters have their regular monthly meeting on the Tuesday after the third Sunday. The meetings usually include a covered dish supper then a guest speaker or singer.

Crafts
Seasonally, the Sunlighters meet and prepare crafts for shut-ins.

Homebound and Nursing Home Visitation
The Sunlighters regularly visit other senior adults that can longer get out themselves.

Trips and Outings
The Sunlighters plan several trips of varying length throughout the year. The Sunlighters have attended conferences in Branson, MO; Gatlinburg, TN; Savannah, GA; and Toccoa, GA. They also meet to go out to eat and plan day trips.
